Counseling

SLHS Counseling Department Mission and Vision

Counselors are available for personal, social, and academic support.

Services include high school and post secondary planning, career exploration, and group and individual counseling. Counselors are also available for parent consultation. Appointments are appreciated.
The SLHS Counselors follow the American School Counselor Association Comprehensive Counseling Guidelines, and support the goals of the District's Strategic Plan.

Registration is underway!  Students will be receiving information and materials through their English classes.  They will meet with their counselor to review and submit requests.

College Credit while in High School

Standley Lake High School is continuing to develop partnerships and increase the opportunities available for students to earn college credit while in high school.  

For the 2017-18 School Year, we will be offering college credit for:  English 12-Composition for the College Bound, French 3 and Pre-Calculus.


Registration for Spring Semester College Classes Jan 8, 2018

 We will register with FRCC in the computer labs during class time.  If you miss this registration, please see your teacher and/or counselor.

The Iowa Young Writers' Studio is an intensive, residential, summer creative writing program for high school students designed to give you a chance to live the writer's life.  We offer classes in fiction, poetry, and creative writing.  Applications are due in February 2017.  For more detailed information, visit us online at www.iowayoungwritersstudio.org
